PSP Themes – Make Your PSP Stand Out

If you have come across a Playstation Portable you may have noticed that it comes with a unique interface. This interface is very user-friendly and can be customized. The PSP has become more convenient with this feature since the first PSPs did not have the ability to change the themes of the interface. Since the PSP first started to allow players to change the themes many have been produced that capture your eye. The ability to change the theme of the interface gives the player a sense of uniqueness and really makes each PSP stand out. There are many ways to go about getting new themes for your PSP as I will explain.

The first method of getting themes is from a website you can find on Yahoo! or Google by searching "PSP Themes". One of the best websites I can give you is psp-themes.net; here you will find a variety of free PSP themes that will match your personality. The only thing required to change your PSP theme is to have a PSP Memory Stick Pro Duo as you will need to save your theme there. The website goes over where to save the file in order to be able to view theme in your PSP. The list of themes for PSP is almost endless as you can browse through any genre of themes so you can have a different theme for each day of the week.

The second method of downloading themes for the PSP is through the PSP's own Playstation Store (however you will not find the best PSP themes here). You can log in and download many themes based on many different games out for the PSP. The PSP Go is based around the Playstation Store and it has a 16GB memory for you to download themes straight onto your system without the need of a memory. If you do not own the PSP Go you can still access the online store and save the themes straight to a memory card and view your themes. The Playstation store started with only a few themes but now have hundreds for you to choose from. There are also some themes you may need to pay for but are not so expensive. The price ranges from $.99 to $1.99 depending on the brand that is selling the theme and if it has the ability to shift through a set amount of images.

The PSP themes are able to change the look of the font used in the PSP interface such as making the font black instead of its white color. It also changes the icons for each of the categories in the interface. One other thing you can do is mix and match your themes. For instance you can download a theme that has black letters and black icons with a matching background image; you can then go ahead and replace the image with another image you may have saved in your PSP.

A third method of obtaining themes is through homebrew which pretty much means you will need to find a way to get inside your PSPs registry and load up custom firmwares; which are not Sony developed. This gives a player the freedom to fully customize the PSP in any way that they may choose. You can download themes that will complete change the interface of the PSP. The process of doing homebrew is long and you will have to do your research before trying this but please be aware that it voids Sony warranty.
