Commonly Used Coyote Hunting Techniques

Coyotes have very keen skills and senses that can make them challenging to capture. Baiting coyotes is a technique that is used because these animals will eat just about anything and this is perhaps their weakness. There are two types of calls that are used, one is the imitation call and the other is a distress call. Imitating the different vocal sounds of these animals such as the female mating call, the male mating call or alarm and locating calls help you determine if they are in your area.

The distress call is probably the most effective technique used to bring the coyote out. Distress calls can be made by blowing into your hands and imitating animals the coyotes feast on most frequently such as rabbits, small birds, squirrels, mice and other rodents. Once you have lured the coyote out of hiding and into an open area be sure that you have the proper camouflage gear on so that it is not scared away instantly.
