A Pearl Ring for Every Woman
By O-Guy
A pearl ring is a beautiful unique gift for any woman. The pearl is a lunar symbol that represents women and signifies purity and honesty. It can also be a spiritual emblem and convey self acceptance to some as well. Rare pearls are extremely valuable if found in the wild, but most pearls sold today are manufactured or cultured and not as valuable but still beautiful. Today, cultured pearl rings can be made to look exactly like rings made from wild pearls. Freshwater pearls are thought of as less valuable that sea pearls. This gemstone is usually found as a hard round stone and is made of calcium carbonate. There are pearls referred to as baroque that are not round and smooth. This iridescent gem is the perfect complement for a gold or silver ring and makes for a wonderful gift for yourself or someone special in your life.
Pearl rings can be purchased at a variety of jewelery stores all over the world. You can find pearls ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the quality and area in which the pearl was found. Pearl engagement rings can make for a less expensive and unique alternative to a diamond engagement ring. You can also have pearls added to a diamond engagement ring to make it more intriguing and thoughtful. Since pearls are a womanly and spiritual symbol they can also make a wonderful birthday gift for your daughter, sister or mother. It is not hard to find a pearl ring, just check out the jewelry stores at your local mall and you are sure to come across one that is right for you. Also, you can look online for even more options and combinations of pearl rings.
If you are looking for top of the line pearls, there are certain things that you should be looking for such as color, lustre, thickness of outer shell, shape, surface and size. A perfect white pearl ring will be extremely bright because it will have many layers of nacre. The pearl should look illuminated, not just shiny. Examine the pearl over a light area as opposed to a dark surface and look for a tiny ball within the shell of the pearl that is a sign of high quality.
The color of a highly valuable pearl will be white. The more creamy the color, the less expensive it should be. Dark or distinctly colored pearls are very rare and valuable but make sure you have it checked to make sure it wasn't dyed. You don’t want to give your special lady a fake black pearl ring, do you? The spherical shaped pearl will be the most highly regarded and baroque shaped pearls will be the least expensive. There are many shapes in between which are wonderful and vary in expense. If you find a pearl over seven millimetres then it is a rare find. The larger the pearl the more valuable it is. If you are buying a ring with more than one pearl make sure they are matched perfectly because mismatching can take away from the natural beauty of each pearl and the overall appearance of the ring.
Also, after you pick out your ring take it to a graduated gemologist to have it appraised to make sure that you got your money’s worth. It is important to make sure the place you purchase your pearl ring from has at least a thirty day return policy, in case the appraisal brings bad news. Don't forget to get your ring appraised right away after you buy it! If you do your research and take your time while shopping you are sure to be satisfied with your purchase of the illuminating beauty of a pearl ring.
